Back in town, I will add they took our monitors away before we arrived… so maybe there is some residual levels we don’t need to know about? Either way we are back in town and ready for some museums! Well, more like a day in the park and we add museums to it. Our first stop is the Ukrainian motherland monument, stunning and 62M tall. Following that you will also walk by a huge mural of carvings depicting the life through the wars. Its very well done and quite enjoyable to walk through.

Moving into the museum, well, what I noticed is that in western countries war is glorified and celebrated to an extent in the museums, while here, they don’t sugar coat anything. Here is war, here is the pictures, here are some artifacts, now go home and have a think about it. This museum ranks up there with the items on display, many I did not bother taking pictures of. I snapped a few photos of the damaged equipment at the start, but as soon as we got into the rougher areas, I stopped. You will have to visit it yourself. I will say this this though, in one room you enter the there is a machine that was used to grind human bones for fertilizer. Mentally it takes a toll as you walk through.

So of course, we have to lighten the mood and that means an outdoor museum of more war implements, I don’t mind these. We had tanks, planes and even ships on display. I even picked up a hitch hiker. That’s right, a little tick dug himself way way way into my leg. Awesome. But I was able to burn most of him out and then had to dig the head out. All good though. Haven’t died yet.

We finish the night with a walk to a local church and the bell tower of Saint Sophia’s Cathedral. It’s a lovely place with a great view from up top. The bells are still all in place and we are able to climb to the top. After enjoying this view at height, we decided to spoil ourselves and go to a roof top bar to celebrate our last night in Kyiv. B-hush rooftop lounge is the go to, quite lovely cocktails, well excellent actually and the view was stunning. This will be our last night together in Ukraine as Asareh is flying out tomorrow morning for work and I will be tasked with getting the car home.
