We will begin round 2 in Africa by actually starting in Turkey yet again. With the rig loaded up its time to motor to Morocco. I covered 3300kms in just over 9 days till I caught the ferry from Genova. The drive through Turkey is uneventful and I make great time due to the toll roads. I have chosen to put these blogs in the right turn category, as we are not in the Pajero.

Then it’s time for the first border crossing, All goes well till the customs area in Bulgari… there are 2 guards.. then 4 then about 7, all pointing at the ute. I have no idea what they are saying, when I get the all clear the one that spoke English came up and said they love your ute, as they don’t get that big of tyres here, or its super rare. So that was very cool, and it was true, basically besides trucks, I was the biggest thing on the road all the way to Italy.

And being in Bulgaria I had to go see the world famous, Fertility cave. It looks like.. well you look at the photos and get back to me on that one. It was a great 2 km hike, and the end gets tougher, you really gotta earn the entry. LOL.

Crossing into Serbia, another easy border crossing is had, and not much happens as I didn’t even have anything planned, although I did stop and buy a new arb compressor and all the required gear for it. On board air is a great thing. I will add that spotting 2 yards full of 60’s/70’s American cars blew my mind, ohhhh and someone had a car fire, always carry an extinguisher.

But that night while sitting at the table, I message an old friend, Pixie, from Bosnia, he is home so I change my plans slightly to run through Bosnia instead. We worked together in the DRC and it was great to see his place and meet his wife and new born. We of course went to his smoking shed for all the pork products you can handle. Afterwards, we headed into town to meet Darko, another mate from DRC. It was a slightly big night an I was definitely a little rough in the morning. But worth it to see old friends.
