We are up at the crack of dawn and before Darko even wakes up we hit the road. Our goal today is to get to Belgrade is Serbia. About a 4 hour drive through the back roads and including a border crossing, which always seem to go quick. Of course there is always time for a coffee break and to let Pina run around.
Arriving in Belgrade we quickly pull up to our Airbnb, and promptly get shouted at for parking in the wrong area, It is an open parking area, just the shop keeper didn’t want the ute blocking his shop view, anyways, we stay put for 20 while we unload. I am sorta a bit over it for this shit at this point. These older cities have next to no parking to begin with, so we will unload in this spot with the shortest walk before I move the ute to a better place. But in good news the town has amazing history, with 2 rivers meeting here it was the centre for a lot of battles, and all the remains from WWI/II are still here to tour and obviously remains from ancient times. Even some secret areas. So lets go on a tour along the river shall we. for spending only a day here we do cover a lot of area.
There is a neat well that is about 10 stories deep, the gate is closed, but we did try. Don’t drop your phone down there. It was cooking outside, and so cool in here, so we also just chilled to cool down for a bit in here.
Our next stop was the look out over the river.
Which on the way back led to a little bunker setup that featured all the historical women of the time. So not only great history, but in a hidden bunker, it was unmarked, you just had to be willing to go into a completely dark tunnel with no signs. Worth it of course.
Follow by the outdoor artillery museum and the torture museum, humans overall, not very nice to each other.
We finish the day with a nice meal on the river and stopped at the local market, where you can buy beer, so why not pull up and sit on the grass for a bit. We will definitely need to come back for a proper explore next time we head this way as we are slightly strapped for time as we have a guest arriving soon.
