Ohhh this is a good one, we step back to the 2021 trip for the last time to fill in a small side track we did, We visit the Teymareh petroglyphsin the Golpayegan region. This area has rock art from over 7000 years ago with some ranging to over 30000 years old. It was definitely worth the drive out. But into the story, we start our day looking at a 200km drive out, it’s a nice highway, we have honestly now driven it about 6 times. Lol. Luckily though there is always stuff to see on the way, with a quick stop we check out Vaneshan, a old town with heaps of classic buildings to see, the streets are tight, tight enough to give enough to give a small pride a run for its money. A great stop over though. The castle is currently being renovated into a guest house. Unsure if they ever finished it, but that would be a wild place to stay for sure. We find a nice stream for water flow to the farms under some trees to stop for some tea.
Hungry and finally in Golpayegan we stop for lunch, kebab or course, due to the fact that most likely the only KFC in Iran was closed. We hunt a bit to get our bearings and finally figure out that the museum is closed and we need to head another 20km out of town.
Arriving there is nothing, just a sign that says don’t deface anything, it’s a bit wild to see farming right next to an area like this, let alone no form of security. Its incredible to see in person, I would love to go back with the 4wd to get further into the area as the road was to rough for the car.
We sit in the shade and enjoy a few fake beers with sunflowers seeds before turning around and heading back home.
