Order up!

Eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms for brekky, coffee on the side please. Today is a minimal drive day, we work our way past Paradise pool, well try to, the road is fully blocked. They won’t move. The elephants that is. After waiting for 30 minutes we figure it’s in our best interest to turn around.  But we did enjoy the show, 1 took a small mud bath and the other cheekily tried to hide behind a stick and peak out, they really do have different personalities.

After a 5km drive we pull up in the shade, and bust out a snack platter. This is where we will sit all day. Even got a good photo of a bee eater bird and animals slowly go about their day all around us. With the tent setup we sneak in a small nap, the cool breeze takes the heat of the day away.

Waking up its now lunch, time warps are awesome,  As we enjoy our reheated soup an elephant decides its his camp and comes through uncomfortably close, we move to the other side of the wagon till he passes. But it was chill and just continued carrying on.

Rolling up to the gate we are greeted by a fellow motorist who informs me of a leopard on the move on a section of road we pass by on route to camp, were on it. We find the tourist buses but not the leopard… yet. After a few moves we finally see it!! Our first big cat, and I get a decent shot even, 20 seconds of posing for this photo but I was quick enough.  High on the excitement and back at camp Asareh almost walks into an elephant bum.  How? I don’t know.  But they do surprise you.

Look at that pose, what a professional On the move again

Back at the fire the cook off is heating up, its bread baking night and like I’m gonna lose. So anyways I lost. My bread is a flop, I eat it anyways, making the face of enjoyment like nothing is wrong.  Saffron chicken is on the kebab sticks and roasting nicely from this morning’s meal prep, eating like gods on the road as usual. We play back gammon late into the night and have a surprise visit from a hyena, a lone one though, scary looking creature and bigger in person. It doesn’t much care for use and just lazily waddles past.  The lions in the distance are very loud.
