I don’t know?

“I Wanna Sit on The Roof” – Asareh

We wake early after a lovely sleep, the tent is comfy. Did I mention we have no LPG bottles yet, so after getting a fire going we cook omelets for breakfast. The coffee when camping is always better.

Breakfast

50 meters away the ocean crashes on the shore and we dip our feet, time to pack up and head out. Next stop: The Maputo Special reserve a couple kms north of where we are. Feels good to be off-roading right off the bat. But first a quick stop at the local pub for lunch and a drink. This is where the RandR originated from I am told, im surprised they didn’t kill the creator, the rum is cheaper then the mix so you can guess how the mix is. WOW, but good.

Welcome to the park

Working our way north we see our first Giraffes. Woohoo free animals! Arriving at the gate we air down slightly and pull into the park. Some scratches later we hit a clearing. Asareh is on the roof before I even know what is going on. And away we go. Herds of animal’s cross in front and beside us. Magical for our first experience of wild animals. Zig zagging across the park we slowly make our way to the camp we picked.

I get back near the bush and we find a lot of broken trees, the elephants must be near!! About 4kms later we spot the herd, there must have been 20 in total, all with their own bird for cleaning. Even seen a few babies hiding in the long grass.

We continue on another 30kms, we learned quickly we were pushing to far each day as we arrived for sunset yet again. But it was a great drive. We find a lovely enclosed camp ground and get a fire going. With camp all setup we bust out some salmon steaks and chips. All went well till I got hot pepper in my eye. Nothing a beer can’t fix. That night is the darkest night we have ever had camping. Cant see your hand in front of your face.
